We became a wholly owned subsidiary of CIP Industries Incorporated LLP in October 2005 when it was divested by AEA Technology plc. ABSL offers complete system solutions from the design and development of its own Lithium-ion cells, design of control electronics and SMART communications, assembly of battery packs, to design and assembly of SMART charging systems.

ABSL remains at the forefront of our industry by actively researching and evaluating new portable power technologies. Our worldwide customer base spans the defence, industry comprising Soldier Modernization Programs, Light Armoured Vehicle back-up power, AUV and UUV programs, Robotic concepts and both Commercial and Industrial OEM bespoke programs. Recent specialisations have also included a move into small to medium volume manufacture of high efficiency, high quality rechargeable battery systems for vehicles inclusive of scooters, motor cars, racing cars, lorry’s vans and locomotives, pure Electric, Hybrid or Auxiliary, requirements are within our extensive portfolio.

2010 will see the installation of a new pouch cell production line in our UK facility.

Because we manufacture cells and battery packs we can make the optimum size to fit the space available. By adjusting the cell make-up our modelling system allows us to calculate capacity, discharge rate and overall weight of the cell and therefore the whole battery system.
