Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
During flight large UAVs need electrical power for many critical functions. A typical system includes an Emergency Battery, which provides power for a minimum of 45 minutes to allow safe recovery of the UAV if the primary power bus fails in the case of engine failure. In micro-UAVs, the battery may power both the vehicle and payload equipment.
ABSL has developed a number of batteries for this type of application, which typically requires the maximum amount of power and energy within a given space and weight budget. A typical battery would be required to operate at extreme temperatures.
Where high power is required at temperatures down to -50°C, built-in heating elements can be provided. ABSL offers a complete custom designed energy storage system for UAVs, with built-in battery management and protection, external communications for vehicle monitoring and control and comprehensive charging solutions.
