Power Storage
Selecting the appropriate power storage within an integrated system is important to ensure robust performance and reduced weight. Form factor, Capacity and electrical characteristics need to be selected for specific system requirements and operational duty cycle. Currently, rechargeable Li-ion batteries offer the optimal balance of performance and whole life cost, but an interoperable Primary (non-rechargeable) option is often desirable in some circumstances. ABSL's MPS battery (see link for pdf datasheet) delivers state of the art performance for soldier systems and provides a specific energy of 175Wh/Kg. ABSL is also developing advanced power source technologies such as fuel cells and alternative battery chemistries to meet the increasing demands of soldier systems.
