Battery packs for Oil and Gas industry

Oil

Lithium Ion batteries have the highest energy density almost 3 times that of alkaline batteries, which makes them the right solution for oil industry applications which requires a reliable power source technology. Lithium batteries used in the Oil & Gas industry must perform in extreme heat and pressure, survive pounding shock and vibration forces and often withstand corrosive environments. With ABSL’s extensive experience in providing reliable power solutions in extreme conditions, we could provide lithium cells and battery packs that deliver dependable power on demand, extremely high reliability and peak performance in the harshest of environments.

The batteries used in the oil industry need to be ATEX qualified because of the extreme and dangerous conditions the batteries are subjected to.

ATEX are a set of regulations recently introduced to protect people from fires, explosive atmospheres and similar events arising from dangerous substances used in the workplace. A legal responsibility has been placed upon employers to provide their workers with protection in line with the details described by DSEAR and ATEX.

ABSL Power can offer added value battery packs with Zone 1, 2 or 3 ATEX level statuses.

One of the applications of ATEX batteries, and where ABSL are actively involved are the PIGs (Pipeline Inspection Gauges.) These are pieces of equipment used to clean or inspect pipelines. The PIG is propelled down the pipeline by compressed gas, fluid, umbilical chord or DC power. Pigging systems and equipment are also used in smaller diameter pipes in continuous and batch process plants. PIGs are traditionally powered by Primary cells.
