Ultracell fuel cell

The XX25 25 W Fuel Cell Power Source

As part of the teaming arrangement to mature an appropriate technology towards the requirements of the PPS strand A1 deliverable, UltraCell have designated ABSL as distributor in the UK and Europe of UltraCell’s the existing XX25 fuel cell. (For more information read the PPS Programme case study here.)

The UltraCell® XX25TM is a portable fuel cell designed to meet the power requirements of mobile electronic devices such as satellite communication terminals, rugged computers and radios used by military and public safety personnel on remote missions.

The XX25 provides uninterrupted power to field computer and communications equipment for extended periods at a considerable weight advantage over existing battery solutions. It can also be used as a power source for remote surveillance and reconnaissance sensors for weeks of continuous monitoring.

The rugged design of the XX25 makes it suitable for the most demanding of environments, and its compatibility with night vision equipment permits around the clock usage in critical missions.

The XX25 is subject to continuous improvement, for example the current unit delivers power out from switch-on within 12 minutes, half the time required by the previous revision, and is qualified to MIL-STD-810F to a high degree.
